New Accommodation Block:
The photo above was taken in July showing the
completed accommodation block. It consists of 4
bedrooms and a small reception area. Jesca and Emma
together with other female teaching staff will stay here.
New Classrooms:
The photo above shows the roof going on classrooms
one and two. Progress has been slow over the last
couple of months but now the two verandahs are
complete the roof should soon take shape.
Other News:
Reunion Weekend and Wedding: This years annual Reunion weekend
took place on the 12-13th July. This years was very different as it included the
wedding of Joyce to Baraka.
Summer Trips: Lynda and Andrea arrived on the 23rd July and leave on the
5th August. Alison and Warren (both tutors from Blackburn College) should
arrive on Sunday the 3rd August and leave on the 22nd August. They will all be
busy teaching various subjects and be taking all the teaching resources with
them. We look forward to hearing how they went on.
Visa Problems: Sadly we have had problems with the time taken to process
the visas for our new students. The processing time was published as 10 days
but now we are told 15days and longer so our initial time scale has changed and
flights had to be cancelled. Even so we hope the girls arrive in good time to start
their first term in September.

Greetings from Bethany, This is our temporary web page due to the fact the
old computer failed and at the moment I am unable to update the old pages.
However, the old Bethany main index page is here

First Bethany Wedding:
Baraka was married to Bethany girl Joyce John Malale
on Saturday the 12th July (at Bethany). This was a
Christian wedding and registered with the government
giving Joyce certain rights which otherwise she would not
have. We encourage all our ex Bethany children to be
legally married and hopefully in a Christian context.
Latest News - Jesca and Emmakulatha are now back at
Bethany and settling into their new roles as volunteer
teachers. They are busy organising timetables for extra
studies for all the children when they arrive home from
school. They have also visited the local government
primary school and spoken to them about the importance of
teaching the children as opposed to beating them. Our
other 5 girls (Sophia, Fatuma, Rehema, Mpelwa and
Debora) are helping out at the school every morning and
helping Jesca and Emma with the teaching in the afternoon
and evenings.
This photo shows Sophia in her graduation gown as her
results show she has gained a first class honours
degree in ‘Education’ awarded by Lancaster University
studied for at Blackburn College.
Students for Blackburn College:
The photo above shows 3 prospective students (Stella,
Elizabeth and Nkamba) who hope to fly to England as soon
as their visas are processed to join the other 5 (Debora,
Mpelwa, Rehema, Sophia and Fatuma) who are already
studying at Blackburn College.
