money box -200pix

How do I get a money box: Simply send me an email with your name and address and telephone number and I will send you one or as many as you like. (click here to email me)

What do I do with it: Put it where people will notice it and where it is convenient to fill with change etc.

What do I do when it’s full: Either bring it to Hope Centre, Watson Street, Oswaldtwistle, Lancs. BB5 3HH or open it (with a tin opener) count the money and then send us the donation. (This can be by cheque, postal order or credit/debit card via the web site). Make cheques and postal orders payable to ‘The Bethany Project’ NET and send to our Treasurer: Mr. Les Clegg, 35 Lord Street, Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire. BB5 3EF. (Tel: 01254 397748). Please let us know if you need another box.

How long do I have to fill it : We guess that 12 months is a reasonable length of time to have the box and you will find a label on the underneath of the box which has the date the box was issued. 12 months after this date we will automatically email or phone you to see how you are going on (they are sometimes lost).

What is it: The money box has a slot for money to go in at the top but no opener to get the money out (you will need to use a tin opener). It is made of very lightweight steel approx. 4 inches diameter (across the top) and 6 inches deep. A paper label is wrapped around the tin showing a picture of the 30 children who will visit England in Sept. 2006 - together with other essential information.

Why have a money box: It is a way of supporting Bethany financially by putting in loose change from time to time. Perhaps other members of the family, friends or visitors might contribute too. It may be a means of introducing other to the work we do as well as being a conversational item

How did we come up with the idea: Many charities have used collecting boxes for many years although in recent years they have not been as popular as the amounts collected can be quite small (especially if filled with pennies!). However we at Bethany are working in one of the poorest countries in the world where pennies make a huge difference.

Where will the money go: We have decided that whatever money is donated via the collecting/money boxes will go towards the children’s education whether that is to pay for a school (building books or teachers pay) or for the uniforms, fees for secondary education etc.

The Money: We intend to keep a running total updated every month on the web site so that everyone will know how much has been raised.
