E-mails received during the Children’s visit to the UK September to November 2006

Many thanks to all those people who sent e-mails. I have taken the liberty of editing some and removing names from others as I haven’t had time to ask all those who sent e-mails if it would be OK to share with others on the web site.

Hello, my name is Stephanie Robinson, and I am a year 11 pupil at Balshaws High School.  I would firstly like to say that the children in Group B are truly an inspiration, I really really admire them and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, and I think that many others in my year group would say the same.  I was amazed by the children and I have to say that they brought a tear to my eyes! Their song and dance was brilliant and they should be really proud of themselves, they are an extremely talented group of children. The whole experience really opened my eyes and made me want to get involved with children in Africa, and when the times right, and I have the ability, I may come over, just to put that bit of help into the Project.  Of course, it may be some time, but after today, I feel inspired to help these children, who more people of today should be like.  It amazed me that even though they have been through so much, they can still have a smile on their face and be so enthusiastic about life, and that is why they are a true inspiration!  I would like to thank-you for the visit, and the awareness that it brought to our eyes.  I am truly envious of those children and I just wish that I could be more like them. And to finish, I was very impressed by their English speaking ability.  Their song and dance is AMAZING!! The section from the Lion King was my favourite, I have to say! Thank-you so much! You've really opened my eyes! Good Luck, and I hope the Bethany Project gets all the support that it so rightly deserves!

I would like to contact you to tell you the affect that meeting the children from the Bethany project has had on us. We saw them at Balshaw's C of E High School this week and they were truly amazing children. When Hearing their stories I know that there was not one person without a tear in their eye and listening to them really does make you think about how lucky we are. We however, would like to do something in return. When visiting, it was said that you welcome people over to the Bethany project to teach the children English. Something that myself and 4 other girls have joined together to say that we would absolutely love to do. We read the website thoroughly and found out as much information as possible but we wanted to contact you to find out how we would go about actually going. Who we need to speak to, what we need to do etc.
Already we have had a few meetings together and come up with a number of ways that we can raise money for the Bethany project and we plan on acting on all of these ideas. We would like to come, if possible, next summer, during the month of July and early August. By which time we will have
hopefully raised a lot of money for the children. We will have just finished our GCSE's and we know that this will be a life changing experience and we would love to be able to come out to spend some time with the children and do anything we can to help whilst we are out there.
If you could please return this e-mail with any information that we may need we would be very grateful, as we are still unsure of what we have to do to go out there and how much money you need for us to stay over there. We will happily pay as much money as is needed for this experience though.
Thanks again, not only for reading this e-mail, but for the wonderful job you are doing with these children. They all really are amazing.

On behalf of myself, my 2 boys + their friend, and my mum, I wish to thank you all. It was an absolute joy to see all those children, looking so happy and singing so beautifully - in my eyes they definitely are 'a choir'.  All the best to you all for the future and God Bless. Thank you once again.

I  GO TO BENJAMIN HARGREAVES  PRIMARY  SCHOOL, AND I ENJOYED THE VISIT  VERY MUCH.   IT WAS INTERESTING  AND I LEARNED ALOT THANK YOU I HOPE YOU ALL ENJOYED YOUR TIME IN ENGLAND .HAVE A SAFE JOURNEY HOME .

Having been at the concert at St. Anne's Church at Edgeside last Saturday (we are both members there) after hearing about sponsorship we believe for £5 per month could you let us have more details. The little girl who stole our heart who was on the front row wearing pink shoes - is her name Anna Samson? We have been through all the 'photos and we think we "picked her out" - she is the one we would like to sponsor! She said she wants to be a doctor. The concert was brilliant - we have been talking about it all week. God bless you all in your work - you are all amazing.

Just thought we would let you know how much year 6 enjoyed their time with the Bethany children. Today they are still talking about it. We hope the children enjoyed making pizza with us. Is there an address I could send letters the children have written on to you? Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi how are you. I am one of the children from St. Michael & St. Johns school. I would like to tell you how I feel at this moment. I am so sad that you have no parents but you are in a safe place now. If this is China reading this how do you balance a bucket full of water on your head whilst singing and dancing? You all are incredible singers I love the songs you sang at my school. You must be some of the best singers in the entire world. I love you all incredibly much.

Hello, we are a group of year 10 pupils at Balshaws and have recently been visited by a group of yours . We have been touched by this visit emotionally; therefore we want to know what we could do to help.
We are also considering coming and visiting the school in the summer of 07.  This is something we all feel strongly about and feel it is something we need to do. We ask the question what we need to do and how we can come about this. We wait upon your reply.

We were delighted when a group of children from the Bethany Project visited our Nursery School last week. Please may we have 2 boxes to collect money in school. Thank you in advance

THE SONG ARE THE BEST  AND MY MATE LIKE THEM 2

Hi,  I'm from Heywood Community High School, the web site is very very very very very good.

Hello I am a pupil from Worden Sports College in Leyland and the Bethany family came to visit my school. I thought it was very nice of them to come visit our school along with Daniel. I enjoyed their singing and loved listening to their stories. I’m testing to see if this email gets through to you. Thank you so much.

Hi, some children from Africa to my school I has extremely happy. I liked the songs and the girl dancing with the bucket of water on her head - I would never be able to do that.

Hi,  My name's -------, I'm 16 and this weekend (14th-15th Oct) I have been staying in Lancashire and so when the Bethany Family Choir visited St. Anne’s church on Saturday night, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to go and watch. It was such an amazing experience. I find it hard to understand how the children, most having had awful experiences at such a young age, can show so much love and enthusiasm for each other and for God. The work that you are doing is fantastic and just to see how happy they are puts everything into perspective. You're giving children who have nothing, the promise of a better future by giving them an education, love, food, clothes, friends and most of all a faith.  For about a year now I've trying to find a charity that I can give some money to on a regular basis. It has been immensely hard to find a charity based on Christian input where I can see that 100% of my money is going straight to those who need it. Saturday night proved to be more than entertainment when I realised that sponsoring a child at Bethany is exactly the place I want my money to go. Thank you for setting up this amazing family of the Lord and giving me the chance to help towards building a brighter future for one of these children. One day I hope to come and visit as just watching the joyous children really struck a chord inside me. Thank you again for all of your amazing commitment to this life changing project. God Bless you all.

Hi, I was a visitor at Park High from the Youth Service when the Bethany Children sang recently.  Can I just say thank you to all of them for giving me an up lifting spiritual experience.  Their singing and dancing filled me full of joy.  Thank you!

HELLO Bethany Family. It is -------------- and I would just like to say thank you for coming to my school, Park high school Colne, and introducing us to the orphans from Tanzania. It was an overwhelming experience. I am 13 and have been to Kenya but nothing has ever made me cry more than the look on the children’s faces when they were dancing and singing. I loved it all but I didn't expect to be able to show one of the children round our school. It was marvellous the look on there faces when we walked into classrooms and every one said hello and good bye. Me and three of my other friend were showing the young girl Nyangeta who had a bad leg. It was the best feeling ever and I am grateful for this! I and my friends are going to start raising money for the Bethany Family charity!  I hope that all the efforts we make go to a good cause. Thank you for this amazing experience it has given me a new light in my mind - a light that tells me to help people who need more than us so I will say thank you to all of you for helping me see this.

I would just like to say that your children at Bethany are brilliant singers and dancers the first time I saw them perform in front of all those people after all they had been the it made me cry it was amazing how all the children at Bethany put on a smiley face when they have been through so much torture in there life so just to show my respect so I am going to give the children some clothes that are too small for me I think it is fantastic that all the children are all so welcoming thank you.

I am from Park high school you came today the 3.10.06 and I might be going to one of the things in Nelson to watch them because they are really good and I will bring some presents like footballs and lots of other stuff.

Hello, I am 14 and absolutely loved the assembly this morning. I thought it was fantastic how all those children could sing and dance without the help of a piano or guitar. I felt really inspired by their positive attitudes and confidence. Thank you so much!

Thank you SOMUCH for the most memorable assembly ever at our school...everyone is talking about the children and asking how they can support the work. Year 7 and 8 were thrilled to have them in their lessons and their teachers were delighted at our children’s respectful attention and caring attitude. One little lad shared his football stickers with one of the boys at break time...This was so worthwhile; bless you all

I would just like to say that I came to Saltburn church to watch the children of Bethany perform their beautiful music and as a mother of 4 myself it brought tears to my eyes.  My children watched and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. I am now looking into trying to donate a small amount each month on behalf of our family and hope it might help a little in your remarkable work to make the children safe and well. I hope you are able to visit again it was an evening not to forget.  Many thanks

I was absolutely delighted by the children and their music – so full of life and happy.  Best wishes with everything you do.

We had a visit from your children today and I just wanted to say a great big 'thank you' to all of them. Our children were mesmerised by their singing and dancing and water-carrying, and there were some moments, such as when OUR pupils sang to the orphans, that I wish we could have freeze-framed and preserved, as these were the rare moments when you realise anything is possible, words just can't express the wonderful, sublime nature of it all.

I am in year 10 at Ribblesdale high school. The Bethany children visited my school yesterday and I would just like to thank you so much. The children are caring, kind and polite. They have beautiful singing voices and have a great dance rhythm. The drums also were fab. Then I went to main meals and gave out fruit, biccies and juice. I made some friends and at the end when they hugged and curtsied I felt so touched. There are three reasons why I am emailng you. One is to thank you for a touching experience, second is for ways in which I could help and thirdly, I would like to be a pen pal, or write a letter to the children as it says on the website (which is brilliant) but on my computer it does not let me see the pen pal page so please could I have some information about it? Below is a note in Swahili for the children xx thank you once again and please reply as soon as possible.

I miss you all so much and I thought you were excellent dancers and singers, also you were beautiful, lovely people. I wish I could see you again, I have got many pictures of you and I think you are so brave and kind. So keep on smiling! Keep it up!

Thanks for coming to our school West Craven High (technology college ), it was very interesting to learn about what life is like in Africa and I liked the songs that the Bethany children sang. Best wishes for the future.

Hi, I'm from Park High school. Today you and the African kids came to perform at my school. I thought they were BRILLIANT!!! I didn’t think they could improve on anything else apart from there English. I particularly enjoyed at the end when we got to shake there hand, they really touched my heart. I hope they have a brilliant life ahead of them, thank you for coming!!!

P.S. Tell them that they were one of the best shows I have ever seen................THANKS!!!

Hello!, I am a student from PARK HIGH SCHOOL, COLNE, LANCASHIRE. You visited on the 3rd of October 2006! Your assembly was great! The songs were exceptional. There is not one thing I did not like about your assembly as it was beautifully created and when the gifts were being given the children were most grateful. I have also got the address off Agatha Charles who very kindly gave it to me. I was intrigued by the amount of effort put in to this assembly and how long they have been learning all their skills. I made the pledge that day that I would email back, and now I have it feels like I haven't let you down.  I wish them all the best, in the future, and when you come back, which I'm sure you will, please do the bucket of water trick ( well....trick to us!) It was soooooo exciting. Give my regards to the little boys and girls and especially... Agatha and Happiness.

I have also taken a look, at your videos and photos of new children to BETHANY FAMILY, I wish them well too. Got to go now,

Hello, I watched your show today at school. I feel really privileged to have seen the song and dance show today the people were so friendly and kind and so happy, it made me think how lucky I am to have a caring mum & dad. I was thinking about all the great things I have in life and I was nearly crying!!! They are so happy and they don’t get half the things I do. I wish you all the luck in the world. Hope to see the show again soon.
P.S-Don’t forget to say a big hi! To all the children in Tanzania at the Bethany from Park high school!!
