Family History:
Vivian’s parents died when she was five years old her: father died in January 2007 and her mother in June the same year.  Both parents died of HIV AIDS. No relatives who where prepared to take Vivian because they all believed that they will be infected by the Virus – very limited thinking.
The girl was taken by the village leader the same day when her mother was buried. Then, after a few days the village leader contacted Pastor Abednego Alal for a possibility of looking after her because he knew that pastor Alal, had some connections with orphaned children..
Pastor Alal, who had known Bethany for sometime, contacted the social officers in Shirati who then confirmed that Vivian needed somebody to care for her.
Pastor Alal, had visited Bethany in January 2008, and was given a chance for three girls, because he looks after 31 orphaned children with no support from anybody apart from a few local people who would just manage to share their little food with these orphans at pastor Allal’s family but cannot afford to pay for their school needs, medical expenses, etc.
Therefore, on the 3rd of April 2008, Vivian was one of girls who had a chance to be officially admitted at Bethany. She is settling in ok though she struggles with the language. She was used to Luo tribal language so now she is learning Swahili to start with.
