Report:
Mwita’s mother ran away from her husband when Mwita was very young leaving him with his father who was an alcoholic. He used to stay with his grandmother but she soon became unable to look after him. His father used to tie his hands and leave him in the house all day. He managed to untie the knot and run away. He was taken to Kuleana by some street boys in 1993 but the next day social welfare took him back to his father who in turn seriously assaulted the officer. The following day Mwita returned to Kuleana having been badly hit in his face. There has been no further contact with his father due to his violent nature. His home was in Musoma and is of the Kurya tribe.
Kuleana felt that the Bethany family would give Mwita the love and security he so needed also there was no other children’s home available. Mwita is a good boy who listens to his elders but is disappointed if he gets anything wrong. He builds relationships easily and enjoys school.
To date Mwita works very hard, has finished secondary school and has achieved a lot. He gets on well with the rest of the Bethany family
