Family History:
Mussa’s mother suffered from malaria for a very long time. When they took her to hospital, she died on the way even before they got into the hospital. His father used to sell some milk and later, his whole body got swollen and he died. Mussa was about three years when his parents died. He was taken by the neighbour called Maduhu Mahenge who was his father’s friend. When Mussa was about the school age, Mr. Maduhu took him to school. After one year, Nr. Maduhu decided that Mussa will not continue with school instead he will look after his cows. Therefore, Mussa stopped for three years without going to school. Within those tree years, he tried to talk to the teachers if they could help him to back to school but nothing happened. An old lady called Ng’hwana Nila who was also living next to Mr. Maduhu’s home, felt pity on Mussa! She took Mussa to the village leaders who did not help him very much; they wanted some money so that they can recommend him as an orphan.
The following day he asked for a lift in a bus so that he can go to another village called Nyangiri were he heard that he may find some of his relatives. When he arrived at Nyangiri, there was no sign of any of his relatives. A Good Samaritan gave him a bus fare to travel to Mwanza to find if there was any children’s home where he could be looked after. When he got into Mwanza, he went to the police station and explained himself. The police ordered the minibus driver to take Mussa to TCRC ( Tanzanian Children’s Rescue Centre). When he got at TCRC, they told Mussa that they were full so they gave him bus fare to come to Bethany. After some interview which was done by the Bethany Management team, the team decided to accept Mussa temporarily until further investigation can be made.
