Judith lived with both of her parents in Mwanza, her father died of Diabetes (possibly HIV AIDS) on 19/02/2006. In July 2006 her mother also died of HIV. Judith was sent to live with her grandmother where she met her cousin called Shella. Life wasn’t easy living with their grandmother because she couldn’t afford their basic needs. They had to stop going to school and start selling charcoal to get some money to feed the family. Later her grandmother spoke to the village leader whether there was anywhere she could take her grandchildren at least to get some education because she could not see their future.
Fortunate enough, there used to be an orphanage within their village but was closed to insufficient service to the children. The person who was in charge lived in the same village with Judith and Shella. That man advised the grandmother to consult the social welfare officer in Magu for assistance. On the 3rd January 2014 contacted us and brought all the supporting documents to ask if we can accept them into The Bethany family. Judith is now at Bethany, she is a good girl, she works hard at school, and she wants to be a doctor when she grows up.
