Family History:

Both of Esther’s parents died in 2010 of HIV & AIDS.  No relatives were interested in her because they knew that  her parents had died of HIV, she must also be infected.  Therefore, nobody was willing to take her into their families as they didn’t want their own children to be infected with the virus.

Her grandmother who is very sick and in her 80s, stayed with Esther for a few months but found it difficult because she also needs to be looked after.  She ended up having Esther wander in other people’s homes, no education, no food, no future. The social welfare officer in that district asked Bethany if we could accept her, otherwise she was going to end up into the streets.

Bethany agreed to take her in on the 13/03/2011. Esther has started school and she is enjoying life and appreciates what Bethany is giving her.
